A Look Into Our Philanthropy Initiatives

We’re committed to creating inclusive and responsible pathways for people to build, create, imagine, and innovate. Our corporate social responsibility initiative DraftKings S.E.R.V.E.S., stands for Service, Equity, Responsibility, Vitality, Environment, and Sports. 

As we celebrate Earth Day 2025, and its theme of “Our Power, Our Planet”, it’s important to remind ourselves that the environment and its well-being is everyone’s responsibility. We are proud of our ongoing efforts to support the Arbor Day Foundation and the work we have done to plant trees across the world. Kate is one of the leaders behind this impactful work. 

“Our program with the Arbor Day Foundation is more than writing checks. It’s about creating awareness and making a direct impact in our local communities,” Kate explained.

Listening to feedback from teammates led to a major shift in focus for the DraftKings S.E.R.V.E.S. program. In early 2022, a company-wide survey revealed environmental sustainability as a top concern among teammates, encouraging us to look closely at our collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation (ADF). 

“Knowing this was an area our employees cared about greatly, we looked for ways to get them more involved in our work with ADF,” Kate said. 

In the fall of 2023, DraftKings launched a global team member volunteering initiative with the Arbor Day Foundation, called ‘Serve with DraftKings S.E.R.V.E.S.’ We collaborated with local tree planting partners of ADF to host volunteer planting events in the areas surrounding each of our global DraftKings offices. Over the last two years, DraftKings has hosted 16 tree plantings, resulting in thousands of trees planted and approximately 2,500 volunteer hours. 

The benefits of these include heat and pollution mitigation in urban communities, carbon sequestration, and increased tree canopies in areas that need it most. This is in addition to our ongoing large-scale reforestation work with ADF. As we celebrate Arbor Day this week, in addition to Earth Day, we are proud of the progress we have made and our future work ahead. 

“Our goal is to inspire others in our industry and beyond. There is a huge runway for growth, the planet is everyone’s shared responsibility,” Kate said. “These events are about more than just planting trees—they’re about building community. Getting out of the office, working alongside colleagues, and connecting with nature creates a shared sense of purpose.”
