Finding More Than Just a Job

There’s a point in everyone’s career where they realize it’s not just about the work they do every day, but more about the people they work with. Some people leave a job and never look back, but for Dimo, a Risk Operations Associate in Plovdiv, that wasn’t the case. 

Dimo spent five years with us before leaving to explore another opportunity. Last year, he realized he wanted to come back to DraftKings. The main reason? His teammates. 

“To feel good in your workspace and daily work life, you need friends and good colleagues,” Dimo explained. 

His time away gave him a new perspective on what actually makes a job worth it. The environment you step into every day, the people who have your back, the feeling of belonging – that’s hard to find. He missed the strong team culture and had a few more reasons to jump back in. 

“To explore new challenges, new skills, new tasks, to improve myself,” Dimo added, “Not only the team, but also the overall work; it’s very interesting for me.” 

Today, Dimo dives into what he describes as “detective work”– digging into data and working behind the scenes to best help customers. It’s the kind of role that challenges him to think critically and stay curious; something he genuinely enjoys. He can do that work at many companies, but Dimo wanted to come back here specifically because of the way teammates show up for each other. It all comes down to everyone’s willingness to help without hesitation.

“Everyone is so friendly and supportive, always helpful,” Dimo said. “It’s not just that they support me. I support them too. It goes both ways.” 

When he returned, the team’s reaction made the decision feel even more right.

“It was a happy time,” he said. “I felt like I was coming home, not only because of the environment but because of my colleagues and friends.”
