At the Heart of a New Chapter in iGaming

At DraftKings, growth often comes from the willingness to explore something new, whether it’s stepping into an evolving industry or helping shape a brand-new team. That’s exactly the kind of journey one of our Plovdiv-based teammates, Slavi, has taken, moving from a role in trading to become one of the first members of Bulgaria’s iGaming Marketing and Operations team. He shares how his path has evolved, what drives him, and why taking a chance on change has been so rewarding.

Tell me a little bit about yourself and your role at DraftKings. 

I’ve been with DraftKings for almost three years now. I started in the Trading department and recently transitioned into the iGaming Marketing and Operations team. Currently, I’m based in our Plovdiv office in Bulgaria, where I’m focused on creating and managing promotions that help drive engagement on our casino platform.

What drew you initially to DraftKings?

A friend of mine who was already working here told me about DraftKings and spoke highly of the trading department. I was curious to learn more and, after doing some research, I really liked what the company stood for, especially the fast-paced environment and the mix of sports, gaming, and tech. It felt like a place where I could both grow and be challenged.

How has your career evolved since joining DraftKings, and what key factors have contributed to your growth?

I started out as a Content Trader, where I gained a lot of foundational experience and insight into the business. I stayed in that role for over two years, learning a lot and becoming more confident in my skills. When I saw the opportunity to join the newly forming iGaming team in Plovdiv, I jumped at the chance. I think being open to change, staying curious, and always looking to take on new challenges really helped me grow within the company.

What’s it like being among the first members of the iGaming team in Bulgaria?

It’s been exciting and rewarding. Being one of the first team members gave me the chance to help shape how we work and contribute directly to building something from the ground up. There’s a lot of energy and collaboration, and it’s great to see how fast we’ve been able to make an impact.

What does a typical day in your role look like, and what aspects do you find most rewarding?

My days usually involve planning and executing different types of casino promotions, analyzing performance, and working closely with teams across different departments. The most rewarding part is seeing how those promotions actually perform in real time. When something you helped create leads to increased engagement or positive feedback from players, it’s incredibly satisfying.

What helps you succeed and thrive in your job?

For me, it’s a combination of supportive teammates, strong leadership, and a culture that values innovation and learning. DraftKings gives you the tools and freedom to try new things, which keeps me motivated and always looking for ways to improve.
