He has been at DraftKings for over nine years and is dedicated to helping his teammates grow and reach their fullest potential.

Tell me a little bit about yourself and when you joined DraftKings. 

My name is Mincho, and I’m from Plovdiv, Bulgaria - I joined DraftKings more than nine years ago. I am a Software Engineering Manager, managing one team in Plovdiv and another in Sofia. I am a huge sports fan. I watch pretty much everything - my favorite teams are Manchester United in soccer and LA Lakers in basketball.

What does your team work on at DraftKings?

We are part of the Trading Engineering division. We work mainly on tools for internal use for our Sports Traders and solutions that are part of the sports and betting lifecycle in our company’s ecosystem. Our teams work with a vast amount of data, and all our solutions must come through incredibly fast, so being able to solve these challenges quickly makes our day-to-day exciting.

What still keeps you excited about your work after nine years at DraftKings?

I love working in this dynamic environment, helping and watching colleagues grow and make significant steps in their career paths. It’s not lost on me after all these years that I have the amazing privilege to work with such lovely people on important and complex projects. We get to use the latest technology stack and produce unique products for our teams.

Whenever a roadblock pops up, how do you solve it? 

As one man once said, ‘There are no problems, only solutions.’ Any problem can be solved with the right tools and people - we have a lot of great talent and knowledge within our teams at DraftKings, so we always work together to come up with the best possible outcome. Our strength is in our teamwork.

What helps you succeed and thrive in your job? 

First and foremost, I love my job – programming, sports, mathematics, new challenges, and helping people - all things I enjoy doing and always give it my all. I firmly believe that leading by example is the way, and I always keep an open mind and highly value transparent communication with my teammates. I trust my teammates and empower them to take ownership of their work so they can keep moving forward and upward in their careers.

What makes the work we do at DraftKings unique?

The environment, the people, and the opportunity for those who work hard to grow into more senior positions. And this one is for the technical folks – we work with the latest technologies, continuously improving and always staying up to date with our incredibly dynamic and fast-changing world of software development. Any advice for someone considering applying to DraftKings?

DraftKings is a great place to work, especially if you want to improve your skills because here, we have the people and the tools to help you learn more to reach your potential. I am one of the many examples – I started working at DraftKings as a university student, became part of the engineering team as a Junior Developer through the Software Engineering Academy in Plovdiv, and now I am a manager. I’ve learned so much, and others continue to teach me something new.
