How Our Interns Gain Experience Building Products
When Khushi started as a Software Engineering Intern at DraftKings, she expected to learn, contribute, and get a feel for the industry. What she didn’t expect was to ship production code on a high-profile product before graduating.
“I was part of a super cool project. It was before our Pick6 product launched, so I was working on the project helping it take shape,” Khushi recalls. “That was super fun and super challenging.”
Pick6 is one of our latest innovations; a peer-to-peer fantasy sports product based around a simple “more or less” mechanic for individual player statistics. Khushi was right in the mix, working on the front-end code that millions of players interact with—developing features, creating components, and refining the player experience. The best part? Seeing her work come to life after launch.
“Knowing that my work was helping shape a product… that was so cool,” She said. “Seeing it after launch, I was like, oh wow, I did that.”
DraftKings’ interns don’t just code—they engineer solutions at scale. That means exposure to a modern stack, real-world problem-solving, and cross-team collaboration. Khushi says she gained hands-on experience with advanced front-end technologies and discovered new aspects of software engineering that she hadn’t explored in school.
“You’re really introduced to the most cutting-edge technology here at DraftKings,” she says. “It’s great to work at a company that values tech so much.”
After such a dynamic internship experience, Khushi had no doubts about returning as a full-time software engineer.
“I was having so much fun working at DraftKings,” she says. “Seeing the company culture and how collaborative it is, and seeing the people who work here and how much they enjoy it, I knew it would be the right decision.”
For top-tier software engineers looking for an internship where the projects they work on have a lasting impact, this is the place for you.
“DraftKings is really focused on making interns have a great experience—making them learn new things and take on challenges,” Khushi says. “They really value their interns and the experience they have.”
