What’s unique about our work culture in Bulgaria?

Kristina: At DraftKings, we prioritize a flexible work culture, offering remote options and flexible hours to our teammates in Bulgaria. We also have teams that work from the office full-time, due to the nature of their work. We’re constantly looking for ways to improve the office environment, office perks, and social events to bring everyone together. 

We also prioritize the well-being of our teammates through initiatives such as wellness programs, mental health support, and opportunities for personal development. DraftKings understands that a healthy work-life balance is crucial for team member satisfaction and productivity.

Collaboration is another cornerstone of DraftKings' culture in Bulgaria. Teams operate closely together, often cross-functionally, to achieve common goals. There's an emphasis on open communication and idea sharing, fostering an environment where everyone's contributions are appreciated.

Our work culture in Bulgaria reflects a mix of flexibility, community, and opportunities for personal and professional growth, fostering an environment where everyone feels valued, engaged, and motivated.

What do we provide regarding our office environment and perks to ensure our people enjoy going to and working in the office?

Lilyana: I’d like to start by sharing that I’m a proud member of the DraftKings People Team. I’ve always wanted to be part of a company that truly cares about the well-being of its people, especially how they feel while working from the office. 

DraftKings provides spacious and comfortable office spaces in both Plovdiv and Sofia, with  office perks available to everyone:

  • Amazing coffee and hot drinks prepared by our in-house barista.
  • A wide variety of snacks, nuts, fruits, and more for all kinds of tastes, both healthy and indulgent.
  • An array of soft drinks and fresh juices.
  • Massages (and soon we will have a barber and hairdresser).
  • Breakfasts, lunches, and various office events are organized nearly every week to welcome people to the office and allow more face-time with their teammates. 

What are some of the specific benefits that help our team members achieve an optimal work-life balance?

Kristina: We offer a comprehensive range of benefits to support our teammates and help them achieve optimal work-life balance. 

What really makes DraftKings unique on the market is our Global Parental Leave policy, which includes up to 14 weeks of fully paid leave for new parents to bond with their children. While Bulgarian legislation typically offers maternity leave for up to 2 years after the birth of a child, our parental leave policy extends this support to new fathers as well. We also provide financial support for fertility treatments and child adoption.

Another important part of our work is providing learning and development opportunities to our teams as part of our benefits package.

Some of our other benefits include:

  • 25 days of annual paid leave.
  • Multisport cards that allow access to multiple gyms, pools, and relaxation studios in Bulgaria.
  • Calm app memberships that offer our employees resources for meditation and stress reduction.
  • Helpr membership provides teammates with a convenient platform to find and manage care for children, adults, and pets for up to 60 hours per year.
  • Lyra - a mental health platform that allows our people to access free therapy sessions.
  • Legal and financial consultations.
  • Team building events such as social hours and office brunches.

What are the different learning opportunities DraftKings provides to its team members?

Lilyana: For me, the best benefit a company can ever provide for its people is the opportunity to learn, meaning you are given the chance to evolve and grow not only as a professional but also as a person.

Here are some of the opportunities we provide to our team members:

  • Interactive online training for self-paced learning, including discounted SoftUni courses.
  • Internal and external learning programs led by expert instructors.
  • All training programs are designed to address the specific needs and goals of our team members. For example, we now have a 4-month Leadership Training Program for 50 People Managers from the Trading team, which has been very successful and much appreciated by our teams
  • Full access to LinkedIn Learning.

We invest in our people through this learning ecosystem and this empowers us to continuously expand our skills, explore new areas of interest, and be successful in our careers.
