Sports Data Science At DraftKings

One of the most fascinating teams at DraftKings combines Sports Data Science and Data Engineering to create our Sports Intelligence team. On this episode of the DraftKings Life Podcast, we welcome two team members from the London office, Robin and Rohan. 

Robin M. is the Vice President of Data Science - he’s been with DraftKings for many years, helping build the team and the models that support our product function. Rohan S., Senior Lead Data Science Engineer, works with Robin, focusing more on engineering and creating machine learning models that can handle massive scales. 

“We’re a single org dedicated to building great sports products,” Rohan said. “We try to have the best-in-class sports data.” Working in sports makes our environment very fast-paced. Rohan loves working on a team filled with incredibly smart people he can learn from every day. 

Robin says the team has truly embraced one of our DraftKings behaviors - Act Like an Owner. People on the team feel empowered to voice their ideas and can see the impact of their work directly on our products. 

“Our team tries to go the extra mile,” Robin said. “Really engaging with the products and caring about the customer is something our team does really well.”
