Reflecting on her career, Marcy shares a piece of advice that’s guided her over the years: 

Always advocate for yourself. 

While having supportive leaders is invaluable, she emphasizes that self-advocacy is critical. 

“No one can 'sell' you like you can,” she notes, sharing how this mindset has empowered her to embrace opportunities—even when they felt daunting. For Marcy, taking risks in her professional life, though sometimes intimidating, often yields the most rewarding results. She encourages others to take leaps, put themselves out there, and embrace opportunities that come their way.

In Marcy’s view, good leadership extends beyond project management and meeting targets. She believes strong leaders are those who are invested in their team’s “whole selves.” Research supports her view: teammates who feel their leaders genuinely care about them as individuals are far more engaged in their work. By focusing on her team’s career development and supporting them holistically, she fosters a culture of trust, connection, and mutual respect.
