Data Engineering Manager (Marketing)

DraftKings is growing quickly and we’re looking for a Data Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers centered around the mission of providing a best-in-class experience for our products and customers. You will be working closely with Product Managers, Project Management, Marketing Analytics and Data Engineers to help optimize and deliver innovative solutions. This position requires strong technical skills and a bias toward collaboration.

What you’ll do as a Data Engineering Manager:

  • You will manage and mentor a talented team of Data Engineers of all levels, aiding them in their own career growth

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers and your squads to deliver high quality results with high velocity

  • Rapidly adapt. We roll out products very quickly and are looking for a team that can pivot at a moments notice

  • Responsible for code being designed/architected and written in a testable, scalable, and performant manner

  • Helps manage and facilitate technical design discussions, adds significant verbal and written contributions, and helps your squads overcome hurdles

  • Responsible for overall team health, and ensuring strong and effective communication across the team and with stakeholders

  • Ability to jump in and be a hands on contributor when needed

What skills you have:

  • 3+ years of technical management experience

  • A minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in aspects of business intelligence and data engineering, including data warehousing, delivery, and operations is required

  • Strong, proven mentorship skills which have demonstrated the ability to motivate, develop and guide data engineers

  • Manage hiring, training and updates on team performance to management and squad leads.

  • Strong background in SQL, Data Engineering and Business Intelligence

  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with Marketing stakeholders, Product Managers and technical teams is required

  • Passion to drive an environment that encourages continuous improvement

  • Strong knowledge in a variety of data engines like Snowflake, SQL Server, MySQL and/or Redshift is required. 

  • Experience with data tools such as Datadog, Alation, Tableau and/or other reporting tools is preferred

  • Experience working with Marketing teams or within the i-Gaming industry is a plus

This position can sit in either Boston or remote; however, this work is to be performed entirely outside of Colorado.
